WHAT IS A HEADSHOT?

A headshot is a type of portrait that emphasizes an individual usually from the head down to the chest and shoulders.

WHY DO I NEED A HEADSHOT?

Headshots are great way to make a virtual introduction of yourself (online, in an email, a zoom call, chat, blown up on a poster, or a business card). They help others identify you once they meet you in person. Today, many people use their smartphones and iPhones to take their own headshots which is perfectly fine if you are a student or relatively new in your field. However, as you move up in the world you might want to upgrade that headshot if you want to be taken more serious. You will notice the headshots of your peers and begin realize that a simple smartphone headshot just won’t cut it anymore. As incredible smartphones cameras have become they are still very limited in capability and fidelity. So what makes a professional headshot, “professional?” It’s not the clothes. It is a common misconception that a suit and tie are qualifiers for a professional headshot since it is synonymous with corporate America and professionalism, but really what makes a headshot “professional” is the combination of three things: the technical understanding of the individual taking the photograph, the environment they create to keep their subject comfortable and at ease, and the equipment used to create the image. A trained professional is able to shape the light to their will to create a stunning image no matter what environment they’re placed in. Whether in studio, on location, or outdoors, a professional will produce a high quality image that you will not be able to produce on your own with your smartphone. See the next FAQ for the equipment used in each photoshoot.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

We use DSLR camera systems with specific lenses to achieve the perfect headshot both indoors and outdoors. For indoors, we use a combination of strobe lights, reflectors, diffusers, and soft boxes to control the lights and shadows to produce a soft and flattering light. For outdoors photos we use a combination of reflectors and diffusers to control the harshness of natural sunlight especially during high noon. In addition to the professional equipment used we also like to leverage naturally shaded areas and even offer photoshoots in the late afternoon and early evening to take advantage of the beautiful natural light produced during golden-hour.

DO YOU OFFER GROUP OR CORPORATE RATES FOR HEADSHOTS?

The larger your group, the greater your savings will be! Corporate rates start with groups of 10 and more. We offer a tiered pricing system based on the number of individuals, so essentially the more people we can fit into one session the greater leverage you will have to get the best price possible. Awards ceremonies, mixers, socials, lunch & learns, and other corporate events are a great way to get everyone in a room to get their headshots done. Groups of 10 and smaller can be photographed in studio, but for groups larger than 10, we recommend shooting on-location at your office, hotel, or wherever you need us. This provides the most efficiency from logistically and will likely work best with your employees’ schedule. Events are the perfect time to get everyone’s headshots done! We can even set up one or multiple booths where people can drop in to get their headshots taken during the event. Don’t know how many booths you will need? Let us know how many people will be attending, and the number of participants and we can provide the best option.

Do you also need event coverage? No problem. We can chat about that as well. Our rates are very competitive in the industry.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?

For individuals:

The sitting fee for a headshot session for 1 person starts at $99 for a no frills photoshoot and goes up to $300 for a full-length 1-hour photoshoot. See the differences below:

Express: Our entry-level Express option ($99) is a quick 10-minute session that includes 1 headshot (unedited). Photos are delivered immediately after your session. Great for individuals that need a quality photo but are in a hurry.

Industry Standard: Our most popular option includes a 30-minute one-on-one private session with our photographer and one professionally edited headshot. During this session, we walk you through our pre-photoshoot steps (a thorough review of your outfit, removal of lint, final face touch-ups, and a tutorial on posing and facial expressions). Once we get the jitters out and clean you up, we can start working. We will take several photographs utilizing different poses and angles, and then we will review the photos together to see which ones are your favorite. If you like multiple photos you are more than welcome to purchase additional images from your session ($20/unedited image and $50/professionally edited).

Premium: Our Premium option includes everything from our Standard package, and it extends your session to 1-hour, adds the option of 3 outfits and 3 backdrops, AND 3 professionally edited photos. This option offers the best value our studio has to offer, and is very competitive when comparing to similar photographers in the area.

For Group/Corporate:

Group rates are available for organizations with 10 or more individuals.
